Because the North East of England was designated by the governement has one of the first three of their "Plugged In Places" (Milton Keynes and London being the other two) grant funding is available for companies keen to install charging points.
The Office for Low Emission Vehicles are inviting applications for grant funding our region.
This funding will be available between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2013 and applicants can apply for grants of up to 50% of the eligible costs, subject to state aid limits, payable on delivery of key phases of the project. Indicatively, there will be £10 million available for each of the 3 financial years.
Applications are encouraged from consortia and OLEV would expect them to be made up of a number of partners which could include local authorities, Integrated Transport Authority (where appropriate) and private businesses within a city and the appropriate Regional Development Agency or Devolved Administration along with the electricity distributor and suppliers for that region. This does not rule out applications from a single organisation. Such applications will need to demonstrate strong support from other key local entities, like local authorities, and fit with their plans to be considered for funding.
Consortium applications will need to nominate a lead partner – this lead partner could be any member of the consortium, or an external agent hired by the consortium.
Plug Point UK Ltd can act on either on a consultancy basis or become a partner in your application right from initial survey through application process and if successful to facillitating actual installation. Interested? Click Here
